I have many years’ experience drafting a wide range of materials for clients.
I have drafted full-length submissions to government consultations and select committee inquiries, as well as industry reports and contributions to debate. They might be two-page briefing documents, which have to distil a large quantity of material into a clear and concise summary, or a detailed presentation of a specific issue running to thousands of words.
A particular specialism is mastering complex and technical material and helping clients to put across what they want to say in non-technical language, free of jargon, so that it is easily understood by the lay reader.
One of the most effective, and widely used, forms of marketing collateral is the case study. Often those responsible for doing the good work are not the best-placed to write about it; they can be too close to what was done, and an outsider can be better at selecting what is outstanding about the example of good practice and making it appeal to others.
I also write speeches for clients. I learned my trade drafting speeches for Ministers; as a consultant, I have written speeches for Chief Executives of government bodies, trade associations and corporations.
Examples include:
- For a specialist CRM software company, drafting marketing materials and case studies targeting public sector bodies in the UK
- Drafting a submission, including scientific evidence, at short notice for an industry trade body in response to a parliamentary inquiry
- Drafting a briefing paper on blockchain technology for a financial technology company.
